
The human resource role is far from the administrative function that is usually associated with. The position has a unique ability to look at the business from different angles. One is the company objective and culture chosen, and second is the employees’ perspectives that are going to be hired to fit into the company organisational objective. The reason I choose to pursue this career is:
- My academic journey. When i finished “la terza medie”( year 9 in England) in Italy, I had to choose what school I wanted to attend for the next 5 years. I applied for the institution of higher education “Angelo Motti” (Istituto superiore). The first three years, I studied enogastronomia cucina (Gastronomy), Turismo (Tourism) and Sala e vendita Bar (Management of bar and sales). After getting the certificate for all three, I specialised in Gastronomy for the next two year. At 16 I started working in the service industry, every summer for 3 months every year, I had a job, from assistant to the chef to barista. When I started university, I choose event management because other than providing excellent customer service and working with a team. I liked the organisational aspect of the job. This is where I learned about the role of human resource.
- The influence that the role will give me to make changes in the company (like creating a training program or re evaluating policies)
- The opportunity to grow in the role even though AI is changing the way we work (my dissertation is going to focus on AI in HR). The human element will always be a fundamental aspect to run a business.
- The role will give the opportunity to support and develop the employees since I am a people person I believe that an organisation to improve not only financially needs to look after the overall wellbeing of the employees these are aspects that encourage continuous engagement and performance.
- I can meet new people a can also use my organisational skill (l Iove stationery)
